Stela of Djari
Description
More images

The stela of Djari is a striking example of the style of The First Intermediate Period : the characters depicted with their right arm behind their body and the hieroglyphic inscriptions engraved in recessed relief, are rendered in a rather clumsy manner. Apart from a sacrificial formula and a short biographical text, the stela contains the depiction of Djari, an official of the Theban court of Antef II, and of his wife, a priestess of Hathor, both sitting on a chair.
