Model of a butchery
Description
More images

This wooden model dating from the 1st Intermediate Period or the Middle Kingdom depicts a scene from a butcher's shop. The butcher on the right was probably holding a knife in his left hand in order to cut the cow's throat lying on its left side, or to cut off the animal's right foreleg, the favoured piece in funerary offerings.
