This lid of a canopic jar was found during the excavations of W.M.F. Petrie in Abydos. It has the shape of a a slightly flattened human head. The ears, eyebrows and nose are made in relief. The mouth is incised and appears to be open. The face is painted red, while the black wig is enhanced with yellow lines. The eyes are painted white, the pupils black. This example belongs to a type of lids of canopic jars that is characteristic for the 20th dynasty.
