This beautiful black diorite royal head, of the "physcon" type, probably dates from the 3rd-2nd centuries BC. The head shows typical Egyptian iconography, such as the double crown, the Uraeus and the dorsal pillar, but also has some Greek influences. The swollen face of the pharaoh is characterized by pronounced eyelids and brow arches, and a rather fine mouth. It is impossible to identify with certainty the king represented here.
