The figurine depicts a dignitary called Meri. He is seated on a cube-shaped seat, the right side of which is inscribed with an inscription. As a provincial governor, probably under one of the pharaohs of the 6th Dynasty, he is depicted in a dignified and stern manner, his left hand flat on his knee, his right hand clenched around a staff used by civil officials has not been preserved. He wears a very simple loincloth apron and a wide collar. His hair is parted in the middle and extends to the curve of his shoulders. His face, which is slightly bent backwards, is striking: the wide mouth and eyes, which are wide open, express a certain tenseness. The depiction of the body with a contorted torso and heavy legs are features that we already find in the sculptural art of the 1st Intermediate Period.
