The base of this scarab shows a number of hieroglyphs in a scroll border. The signs are, from top to bottom, “nfr”, the scarab “khpr”, “nfr” between two “swt” plants and again “khpr”. Both the composition and morphology of the scarab are characteristic for the production of the late Middle Kingdom (mid-12th-13th dynasty).
