These types of amulets in the form of naturalistically rendered scarabs, in which all parts of the beetle are shown, including the abdomen and legs, are characteristic of the Late Period (26th-30th dynasty). They had a purely funerary function: a ring on the bottom allowed them to be sewn into the linen bandages of the mummy.
