The figurine depicts Bakenrenef in the prayer position, vizier of King Psamtik I (664-610 BC) and priest of the Memphite gods Ptah and Seker. He is kneeling and keeps his hands stretched on his thighs. The idealised and stern facial features are reminiscent of the 25th Dynasty. His gaze is slightly directed upwards, a feature called the "apotheosis" position. His wig with horizontal stripes and a lock of hair to the side, indicating that the vizier was a member of the clergy of the god Ptah, and the heart-shaped amulet he wears on his chest, are archaic features. The figurine, which was composed of two fragments, is a great example of the archaic sculptural art of the Saite period.
