The base of this scarab shows a composition of two plant motifs flanking the hieroglyph “djd” (‘eternity’). Each motif consists of the basket “nb” from which three papyrus stalks appear. Both the design and morphology of the scarab point to a date in the late Middle Kingdom (mid-12th-13th dynasty).
